(label verso); Private Collection Frank McKelvey first attracted attention with his pictures of ‘old’ Belfast, and his landscape painting. In 1917, his artwork was accepted by the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) when he was only 23. For the next fifty-five years he showed every year at the RHA. In 1921, McKelvey was elected a member of the Belfast Art Society. McKelvey was considered one of the most successful Irish landscape painters of his time. He was gifted both with a superb technical fluency and an inquisitive mind so that painting to him represented a sense of discovery which, notwithstanding the often repetitive nature of some of his landscapes, imbued his work with a constant freshness. €5,000-7,000 (£4,347-6,086)
